Z-Conomics: Journal on Islamic Economics, Finance, and Banking is a peer-reviewed open access journal that upholds the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior expected of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. This ethical guideline is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices.
Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
The publication of an article in Z-Conomics represents a critical contribution to the development of coherent and respected knowledge in Islamic economics, finance, and banking. It reflects the integrity of the authors and the academic institutions involved. All parties must commit to ensuring the quality and credibility of scholarly publications through adherence to ethical standards.
Duties of Editors
1. Publication Decisions
Editors are responsible for deciding which articles are suitable for publication based on scholarly merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope. These decisions are guided by peer review outcomes and legal requirements, including issues related to libel, copyright, and plagiarism.
2. Fair and Objective Evaluation
Manuscripts are evaluated based solely on intellectual content, regardless of the author’s race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political ideology.
3. Confidentiality
Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and disclose information only to those involved in the publication process.
4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a manuscript for their own research without written consent from the author.
Duties of Reviewers
1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer reviewers assist the editor in editorial decisions and contribute to the quality of the published work by offering constructive feedback to authors.
2. Promptness
Reviewers who are unable to review a manuscript promptly should notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
3. Confidentiality
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and not shared or discussed with others.
4. Objectivity and Constructive Feedback
Reviews must be conducted objectively, without personal criticism of the authors. Reviewers should clearly express their opinions and support them with sound arguments.
5. Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers must identify uncited relevant work and report any substantial similarity or overlap with other published papers.
6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must disclose any potential conflict of interest and refrain from reviewing manuscripts where such conflicts exist.
Duties of Authors
1. Reporting Standards
Authors must provide accurate, honest, and transparent accounts of the research conducted, and the manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate the work.
2. Data Access and Retention
Authors should be prepared to provide raw data upon editorial request and retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.
3. Originality and Plagiarism
All submissions must be original works. Authors must ensure proper citation of any content derived from other works. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical behavior and is unacceptable.
4. Multiple and Concurrent Publication
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Such redundant publication is unethical and unacceptable.
5. Authorship and Acknowledgment
Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the research. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission. Others who contributed to the study should be acknowledged.
6. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may affect the results or interpretation of the manuscript.
7. Fundamental Errors
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their responsibility to promptly inform the journal editor and cooperate in retracting or correcting the paper.
Duties of the Publisher
The publisher of Z-Conomics takes ethical duties seriously and ensures that all parties involved in the publication process act in accordance with COPE guidelines. In cases of misconduct, the publisher will work closely with editors to investigate and resolve issues fairly and transparently.
