Author Guidelines

1. Aims and Scope

Z-Conomics: Journal on Islamic Economics, Finance, and Banking publishes original, high-quality scholarly work focusing on, but not limited to:

  • Islamic economics and economic thought

  • Islamic finance and financial institutions

  • Sharia-compliant banking systems

  • Zakat, waqf, and Islamic philanthropy

  • Islamic microfinance and fintech

  • Halal industry and ethical investment

  • Public policy and regulatory frameworks in Islamic finance

Authors must ensure that submissions are aligned with the journal’s aims and scope and make a meaningful contribution to the field.


2. General Submission Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  • Manuscripts must be written in English.

  • Manuscripts must follow the Z-Conomics template (available on the journal's website).

  • Manuscripts will be subjected to a Turnitin plagiarism check with a maximum similarity threshold of 25%.

  • Authors are strongly encouraged to use academic reference managers such as Mendeley or Zotero.


3. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be organized into the following sections:

a. Title Page

  • Title (clear, concise, and informative)

  • Author names and affiliations

  • Corresponding author’s email

b. Abstract and Keywords

  • Abstract (150–200 words), structured with objectives, methods, findings, and implications

  • 3–5 relevant keywords

c. Main Body

Typical structure:

  • Introduction

  • Literature Review

  • Methodology

  • Results and Discussion

  • Conclusion and Suggestions

Note: Each section should be numbered. Subsections can follow the format 1.1, 1.2, etc.

d. References

  • Use APA Style 7th Edition consistently.

  • At least 15 primary and recent references, ideally from peer-reviewed journals.


4. Formatting Guidelines

  • Manuscript length: 6,000–8,000 words, including references and appendices.

  • Font: Arial, size 12 pt, 1.15 spacing.

  • Margin: 2 cm on all sides.

  • File format: .doc or .docx only.

  • Use italics (not underlining or bold) for non-English terms.


5. Tables and Figures

  • Must be numbered and titled (e.g., Table 1: Summary of Data).

  • Figures must be clear, high-resolution, and labeled properly.

  • Source of data should be mentioned below each table/figure.

  • Tables and figures should be embedded in the text, not as separate files.


6. Ethical Considerations

  • Authors must declare that all data are collected ethically.

  • Any conflict of interest must be disclosed in the manuscript.

  • In case of funding, authors must acknowledge the funding institution.


7. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted via the online submission system available on the journal website. The submission should include:

  • The full manuscript

  • A short bio (max. 100 words per author)

  • A statement of originality and authorship

  • Ethical clearance (if applicable)


8. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

At present, Z-Conomics does not charge any submission or publication fees. The journal is committed to supporting open access and free academic dissemination.


9. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing others to share and adapt the work with appropriate credit.


10. Review and Publication Timeline

  • Initial screening: 1–2 weeks

  • Peer review: 4–6 weeks

  • Revision and final decision: 2–3 weeks

  • Publication (online): After final acceptance
